Animated image of a film projector. This is all very well but ...
there isn't a Film Society anywhere near us!

Have you ever thought of setting-up your own ‘screen’ and joining the new venues that are springing up every month up and down our region. The latest start-ups in 2007 have included Beer in South Devon, Axbridge in Somerset and the first of, hopefully, many new venues in Cornwall as part of the Film West by South West: project: Cinema by the Sea has been launched in Looe along with Lewannick Film Society and Aggies Film Club in St Agnes.
If you would like to follow these groups and start your own film venture, we can provide help in a number of ways - advice and expertise on professional equipment, how to book films and DVDs, including our own block booking scheme, and publicity material. Send off to the BFFS office for a start-up pack for all you need to know.

Who are 'we'?

We are the South West Group of the national body the British Federation of Film Societies – Cinema for All, funded by the UK Film Council. We are enthusiasts, running Film Societies ourselves, who understand the problems and rewards of bringing cinema to parts that other agencies don't reach. We are committed to supporting and extending our membership throughout the region and to exploring the new technologies of DVD and computer animation.
Our Secretary is Brian Clay who can be contacted on 0117 962 0635 or by email: briandclay@hotmail.com and Paul Schilling on 01747 853 224, email: paul.schilling@btinternet.com for equipment loans. Give us a call!

They can provide advice on equipment and suppliers or assist with a trial screening or equipment loan. Check the website, www.bffssouthwest.org.uk for the latest information and links. Cinema for All - Providing access to quality cinema across the UK.

Our national body, BFFS, has an office based in Sheffield. It is supported by national and regional committees of volunteers who run Film Societies themselves. The services to support new and established Film Societies throughout the United Kingdom are currently under review pending further discussions with the UK Film Council. However, BFFS continues to provide help through its Office and Regional Groups like the South West including regular Viewing Sessions, start-up packs and equipment loans.
