Click on South West Filmsocs in the menu on the left for details of societies in the South West. The Events Diary lists what is happening regionally and nationally. Please check regularly, so you don't miss any events. Film West by South West is one of our major projects to encourage the formation of new Film Societies in the region. SW Viewing Sessions gives details of recent viewing sessions organised by the SW region of BFFS. In Film Suggestions you will find long lists of film titles covering several years. These are films that might be of interest to Film Societies. We have always tried to provide Programme Notes on recent films, so please have a look at what is currently available. FSW Newsletter is our newsletter for the region. It brings together news and events - it is published several times a year. Our Secretary is always keen to receive news from Film Societies for inclusion in the next issue.
The rest of the menu options on the left should be self-explanatory - please explore!

Below are some news stories and events of general interest to Film Societies

South West Spring Viewing Day at Wincanton on Sunday 27 April 2008

This has been an extremely successful event - with the good folk of Wincanton (aided by Yeovil) organising things superbly well and laying on an excellent lunch.
Click on Programme Notes on the left for one-page notes on all films plus a poster about James Harpham who played the music for the very well-received Buster Keaton film. The reactions to all films can be viewed as a PDF file.
33 existing or emerging Film Societies were represented by 136 people. This must be one of the largest ever viewing sessions in our region.

bfi film catalogue

- bfi produced a new catalogue of available films for hire. We have got a copy on-line, click on the PDF file link to to display a copy in a separate window. The file is about 250k big. PDF file.

National Block Booking Scheme

- The BFFS scheme offers DVDs at a standard flat rate, including an interesting French collection of films, to all BFFS-member societies regardless of their mode of operation and operates on a show-and-send-on basis. You will get your DVD and need to send it on straight after showing it to the next Film Society. Click here for details.
You can download a copy of the catalogue as a PDF file. However, the file is quite large: 891k.
The BFFS Block Booking Scheme now includes 25 classic films until the end of January 2009. These are available at the same flat rate of £80. Book them because most of them are not available at this rate anywhere else. Click on list to display the PDF file.
